Saturday marked the start of non-stop weddings for the next few months - and what a great way to start it! Melissa & Brendan are such a fun couple. We knew from their engagement session that we were going to have fun with these two. They were just so open to ideas, so natural in front of the camera, and oh, so very much in looooove :) Their engagement session also gave us the opportunity to meet Melissa's parents - quite possibly two of the nicest people on the planet - and, of course, Brendan's little Sabrina [what a cutie!].
When we meet with our couples, I usually take notes about them - how they met, details on the big day... I pulled my notes for Brendan & Melissa the day before the wedding and was reminded that their groom/groomsmen attire was kilts. Oh, happy day.
The wedding took place at St Mary Catholic church in Hales Corners. Besides being gorgeous, the church is a photographer's dream as far as light goes... perfection. A large painting in the church foyer was painted by the Bride's uncle, so we made sure to grab some family shots post-ceremony.
Reception was held at the Polish Center of WI. Great place, lots of character, really nice grounds, and yummy food :) We snuck the bride groom down to the lake, where we found an old, abandoned cottage. Perfect! The reception was bumpin'. The George Busateri Band kept the dance floor full.
We were sad for the night to end... but we have a feeling we'll be seeing this family again - at least we hope so, you are all SO NICE! Enjoy your preview [and have a blast in punta cana!]
Melissa's florist made her 2 bouquets! decisions, decisions...
Kilts come with alot of accessories - including a sporran, which is like a small purse. Brendan commented that the sporran didn't really hold much - I informed him that this is why women have such large purses :)
Kilts come with fun knee-high socks, and a sgian dubh [better known as a "shiv"] that gets tucked into the right sock
the piper :)
Frrreeeeeedooooommmm! [ok. sorry.]
Brendan was walked down the aisle by his parents, and cutie daughter, Sabrina :)
Oh! I ALMOST forgot the BEST thing about kilts...
... they come in Charlie's size!
See the Maid of Honor up front? These are her kiddos... I've been trying to figure out if she's tearing up because her sister is getting married, or because her kids are so darned cute [it's a toss up, I mean... the kid is in a KILT!]
a quick smooch from Dad
"Bam Bam" wanted a better view of the Bride & Groom :)
vows.
kiss!
So, initially when I took this pic, I was focused on the young couple exchanging their sign of peace, but... check out the cutest couple ever in front of them [and the new bride & groom in the background]!
becoming a family :)

we chose this spot for the ring shot because of the contrasting colors, but once I got to editing, I noticed all the dandelion fuzzies. LOVE it.
